ASU-Mountain Home Baseball won their second conference series in as many weeks winning 3 our of 4 games over the Nighthawks of National Park College. The TrailBlazers won the first two games on Thursday (3.26) down in Hot Springs and then returned home to Cooper Park to celebrate Sophomore Day and earned a split at home to complete the series win.
Game 1:
Keaton Matlick threw a complete game to earn the win in game one over National Park. Matlick threw 7 innings surrendering only 2 runs (0 earned) and striking out 5. Offensively the TrailBlazers were lead by Rylan Jones who had 3 hits, Broc Mattox and JD Hertzog each added two hits as well. ASU-Mountain Home would win the game 12-2.
Game 2:
Freshman Blayne Cribb turned in his 2nd quality start in as many weeks as the right hander threw 6.0 innings on 95 pitches, scattering 4 runs on 5 hits and striking out 4 to earn the win in game 2. The TrailBlazer offense exploded for 15 runs on 14 hits including 6 doubles. Rylan Jones had another 3 hit game including a home run with Gavin Stanger notching 3 hits as well. ASUMH won the game 15-8.
Game 3:
Sophomore right hander Matt Byars earned the win on the mound for ASUMH in game 3 throwing a complete game on 88 pitches surrendering only 2 runs on 3 hits and striking out 5. Offensively, JD Hertzog and Christian Loera each had two hits with Hertzog hitting his 7th homerun in the game as well. Sophomore Gabe Flores also homerd in the game. The TrailBlazers would win game 3 and clinch the series 9-2
Game 4:
National Park lead early and controlled the game throughout as they would go on to win the series finale 10-3. Highlights from the TrailBlazers included home runs from Gabe Flores & Broc Mattox.
ASU-Mountain Home now has a confernce record of 8-4 and sits in a 3 way tie for 2nd place on the east side of Region II. The TrailBlazers hit the road for a midweek contest vs. MCC-Maple Woods in Ozark, MO on Tuesday (3.31) before returning home to face SEARK in a 4 game set. The first two games of the series vs. the Sharks is set for a 1:00pm first pitch on Wednesday (4.1) from Lester White Field @ Cooper Park with the series finishing on Friday (4.3) down in Pine Bluff.
